According to the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS), ABS prevents motorcycle wheels from locking up when the rider brakes suddenly.

Anti-lock braking systems reduce measure wheel speed to determine when the wheel is going to stop turning. When it senses that the wheel has stopped, it adjusts pressure on the brakes.
