The BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy Oceania 2020 is the seventh off-road motorcycling adventure competition held by BMW Motorrad. For the 2020 edition, the competition was held in New Zealand that saw competing teams representing numerous countries from across the world. Riders comprising of 22 international teams had to navigate a racecourse comprising of over 2500km. Their riding skills, mental and emotional aptitude were required on-track that ranged from sea level conditions to mountainous conditions. Even though thanks to southern hemisphere southern climate conditions, riders enjoyed moderate temperatures it was not unusual to experience the – four seasons in a day’ phenomenon that is usually experienced in New Zealand.
One of the reasons that contributed to the Oceania 2020 edition being sp exciting and challenging was riders having to maneuver the varying terrain that New Zealand is so renowned for. This meant that riders had to endure everything from sandy beaches to rover crossings to rocky trails, putting both the motorcycle and their riding skills through their paces. The BMW Motorrad F 850 GS was reported to have taken command of New Zealand conditions, proving itself more than capable in versatility as well as in essential performance capabilities.
